I danced in our kitchen.
You saw me, I know, I saw it too.
A smile, but it was out of your polite closet again,
nothing geunine.
I dared you to try on a real outfit for once, one that won't clash with your thoughts.
They are always clearest when you're distracted.

"I'm much too busy."
"Mmm?"
"...busy remembering."
"Ahh.."
"What we are, what this is, what anything means."
"That's a lot of talk.. come dance."
"Bodies moving seems so natural to a beat, what happens when the beat stops?"
"Hmm? Too much thinking, Darling, do. ( < That's a definite command.) The beast never stops."

There was never an island in our kitchen. You created one. Built it, with your own working hands, working mind.
Now we can walk around it, dig beneath it, jump on top it.
Mother was right about one thing, there's mac and cheese on the shelves.
And she's reigning my hands; chopping vegetables, serving vitamins...
She's so crazed and cautious, so disturbed.
"But we've got fidelity, Ma, (still tapping my toes,) we've got a life's list of wrongs that we're righting here tonight..."

I have remembered how silly I can be.
And I how much I do love to laugh.
A season of joy, correct?
Everything in season.

I have a lot of fond memories inside of me, replaying and reminding.
I have so much to be thankful for, so much to look forward to, so little to fear, so little to weep and complain over.
I own, in the very best sense of the word, the world.
