We were sailors-
Everyday sailing:
Wistful, and watching for the wind.
We were choirs-
Everyday singing:
"Hallelus," and, "Hallelujahs."
Still wistful, and watching for the wind.
There was longing in our legs and lungs,
Hopeful dreams of new life begun,
Anticipation of what's told to come,
Once wind makes sails and mouths her home.
But we're waning, and found still waiting on motion.
Muttering with our dirty, sailor mouths,
"Move me, Ocean."
Joining the joyous, heartfelt or not,
Humming along with the chorous as they sing it out-
"Leave worries on shore, Hallelujah.
Let sorrow no more, Hallelu.
Make stronger my sea legs, Hallelujah.
Make fuller my lungs, Hallelu."
